1st film you ever saw?
First cinema experience I vividly remember was seeing Lion King without any adults present at the Royalty in Bowness on Windermere.
Cinematic Hero
Steve Buscemi.
Favourite film
Scarface / Enter the Void / Dazed and Confused - delete as appropriate depending on mood.
Worst film you've seen?
A History of Violence. The most unfathomably overrated film ever made. And I like most of Cronenbourg's stuff.
Guilty Pleasure
How High.
What do we do?
We put on events that we think people will want to come to, mainly because we'd go to them ourselves. Newcastle has an amazing independent cinema scene, and we try and create a celebratory and interesting programme of screenings and events that always have fun as their first priority.
Why are you doing this?
We spend a ridiculous amount of time talking about films and ideas, rather than strategic plans or accounts. Not saying that we don't do everything properly, just that the ideas and the fun always remain central. I believe that's why it works, and that's definitely why I do it.
What do you when you're not doing this?
I am Co-Director of Modular, an organisation which focuses on the creation, programming, and production of interdisciplinary artworks and events. I'm also Administrative Director of Wunderbar Festival, co-director of a conservation and ecology initiative in the Maldives, and a freelance project manager and consultant. In the past I've run projects for AV Festival, Tyneside Cinema and Northern Lights Film Festival (NLFF), among others.
