First film you ever saw?
The first film I ever saw was Disney's Snow White And The Seven Dwarves when I was 3. My Dad took me to the Coliseum Cinema in Brecon and I remember the whole thing vividly, including the red tartan kilt I wore. I was absolutely captivated and used to stand in our garden with my hands outstretched, waiting for birds to land on my fingers. I also refused to eat red apples. Still not keen to be honest.
Cinematic hero
Snow White, obviously, then Louise Brooks for lighting up the silent screen, Ripley for blasting evil aliens, Annie Hall for fantastic clothes, erratic driving and lobster cooking, and William H Macy for always being great.
Favourite film?
Annie Hall
Worst film you've seen?
Miami Vice. It remains the only film I've ever walked out of.
Guilty pleasure?
I really don't have any guilty pleasures. I am very proud of all my pleasures.
What we do?
We're celebrating our love for all types of film with the kinds of events and screenings that we'd like to go to - luckily for us, other people seem to like them too. Press Play is our chance to do what we like, our way. Working with friends is great fun and I'm incredibly proud of Press Play.
What do you do when you're not doing this?
When I'm not doing this… I'm director of Great North Run Culture, an annual programme of art commissions about sport and art, and Chair of the Board of the Wunderbar Festival. I've freelanced on all sorts of curatorial and consultancy projects including work with Design Event, AV Festival, Baltic and Arts Council England and am a visiting lecturer at Northumbria, Newcastle and Teesside Universities. I'm mum to Beatrice and Elwood who amply fill any spare moments I may have.
